Top 10 Favourite Albums of 2019

Hi everyone!

Yes, I know... once again I'm very late to this (but I'm slightly earlier than last year 😉) but here's a list of my top 10 favourite albums of 2019!

Also, as we've just said goodbye to the 2010's, I complied a small selection of some my favourite albums of the decade on my Instagram - click here to take a look 😀

Anyway, lets get on with the list...

10. Clarity by Kim Petras

A debut album of modern day pop done right!
Kim is iconic and the whole world will soon be saying "woo-ah!" 💙

Favourite Tracks: Icy, Got My Number, Personal Hell

9. Love + Fear by Marina

It's no secret that I've been a huge fan of Marina since before 'The Family Jewels' was released but, I must admit, I was a little underwhelmed by this album upon early listens.
However, I grew to appreciate the growth and maturity Marina shows on this album, and while it's still not her best imho, I feel like some of her best songs are on here.

I feel like 'Love + Fear' is Marina's answer to Kate Bush's 'The Sensual World'.

Favourite Tracks: Handmade Heaven, Emotional Machine, Karma, True

8. A Bath Full Of Ecstasy by Hot Chip

A brilliant synthpop album with some house influences thrown in.
Plenty of 80's references without ever sounding dated.
I think it's safe to say by now that Hot Chip will never make a bad album.

Favourite Tracks: Spell, Hungry Child, Melody Of Love

7. Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

This album is both heartbreaking and astonishingly beautiful.
I struggle to find words to truly describe... all I can say is that you must hear it!

Favourite Tracks: Bright Horses, Waiting For You, Galleon Ship

6. Charli by Charli XCX
A futuristic af pop album that sounds like it's from 2099, without forgetting it's 1999 roots.
Charli XCX is the future of pop music!

Favourite Tracks: Gone, 1999, Warm, Silver Cross

5. Norman Fucking Rockwell by Lana Del Rey
I feel like this album will go down in history as Lana's magnum opus!
Everything that makes Lana so special can be found on this album, doing what she does best.

Favourite Tracks: Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman Like Me To Have - But I Have It, Doin' Time, Mariners Apartment Complex, Bartender

4. IGOR by Tyler, The Creator
Lauded by many as his greatest album to date, a brilliant concept album where it seems Tyler has really found his voice.
While 'Scum Fuck Flower Boy' still just manages to scrape that number 1 spot for me, it's a very close call!

Favourite Tracks: I Think, What's Good, Are We Still Friends?

3. Madame X by Madonna
THIS is the album that the real Madonna fans always knew she would make one day... and we are not dissapointed!
Politically charged and experimental while still staying true to her pop roots.
Madame X is a queen!

Favourite Tracks: God Control, Crave, I Rise, Killers Who Are Partying

2. Dedicated by Carly Rae Jepsen
A pop masterpiece!
Perfectly crafted, unpretentious... just extremely well written pure pop that cannot be beaten!

Favourite Tracks: Julien, Now That I Found You, Feels Right, No Drug Like Me

1. MAGDELENE by FKA Twigs
This is the album is the direction I was really hoping FKA Twigs would go in.
Her signature style of art-pop that's unafraid to experiment, but with much more of a focus on melody.
You can really tell that Twigs pour her heart and soul into this album and the result stunning.

Favourite Tracks: Sad Day, Cellophane, Home With You, Fallen Alien

Thank you so much for reading my list! Let me know your thoughts on these albums and please check any you haven't heard out! Also, let me know what your favourite albums of 2019 where!

Excited to hear all the exciting music 2020 will bring and I hope that the new year is absolutely amazing for you!

All the best,
Josh 😀
